Dr. Santos was awarded $525k, as part of a $3M, three-year grant to RE2 Robotics from the U.S. Department of Defense’s Office of Naval Research. The project is titled, “STARFISH: Strong Tactile mARitime hand for Feeling, Inspecting, Sensing, and Handling.” This award enables collaboration with the research teams of Prof. Jonathan D. Posner at the University of Washington and RE2 Robotics. The goal is to develop marinized tactile sensor skins and end-effectors for teleoperated underwater robots that support human-in-the-loop missions.
